Are your returned payments within the limits?

Four numbers from the last 60 days show how your returned payments compare with the limits for US bank payments, and how much room you have left.

  • Every reason, including the two above

    0.00%, limit 15.0%

A quick estimate, not compliance advice. Your bank’s report is the official figure.

Which returns count where

Unauthorized payments: Return codes R05, R07, R10, R11, R29 and R51.

Account problems: Return codes R02, R03 and R04.

All returned payments: Every return code. Re-presented checks are left out.

Each rate is the number of debit payments returned in the period, divided by the number sent. The limits are set by the Nacha Operating Rules, which govern payments between US bank accounts.

Start with the payments you sent.

Then add the returns in each group. Each number is checked against its limit as you type.
